GSSI is a platform bringing together partners from across the seafood sector worldwide. It was set up in 2013 as a collective, non-competitive approach by industry, NGOs, the FAO and governmental organizations to address the growing confusion in the certification landscape.
It is a rewarding time to be part of GSSI and work together to continue to shape solutions to complex challenges across the seafood supply chain. Our 2015 Annual Report sets out our key achievements and the positive trajectory ahead for 2016-17. The Global Benchmark Tool is operational. A number of certification schemes have signed up to be benchmarked and we expect the first GSSI-recognized schemes to follow from mid-2016.
GSSI’s Funding Partners, including Ahold, Darden, Delhaize, Metro, Morrison’s and Sodexo, have committed to include the outcomes of the Tool in daily operations by recognizing all GSSI recognized certification schemes as acceptable when sourcing certified seafood. Find out how.
