Benchmark Integrity Committee

The Benchmark Integrity Committee consists of members from GSSI’s Global Partnership, representing the full value chain and having specific knowledge related to quality assurance, aquaculture and fisheries. The purpose of the Benchmark Integrity Committee is to ensure continued robustness and credibility of GSSI’s Global Benchmark Tool. In this capacity, the Committee provides advice and recommendations on the implementation and development of the Global Benchmark Tool. Committee members also volunteer to act as Benchmark Committee members in the Global Benchmark Tool Process, thereby ensuring that seafood certification schemes are in complete alignment with the Global Benchmark Tool. Anne Vanderhoeven

Anne Vanderhoeven started her fishery experience as a groundfish observer before expanding into crab and later program management. She has also worked with the Community Development Quota program and currently serves as the Director of Government Affairs for Arctic Storm Management Group where she oversees relationships with an assortment of government agencies and trade associations as well as the company’s social and labor standards program. With more than 20 years of experience, Ms. Vanderhoeven has worked with nearly every fleet in Alaska.

Leader Fisheries and Environment Research Group, Institute of Baltic Sea Fisheries Thünen Institute

Christian is a studied fisheries biologist who works as Senior Scientist at the Thünen Institute of Baltic Sea Fisheries in Rostock, Germany, since 2004. One of the Institute’s research activities focusses on developing and testing of approaches for fostering the desirable behavior of fishermen through incentives. Christian is a German member of the Advisory Committee as well as other Expert Groups of the International Council for the Exploration of the Sea. He has long experience in ecosystem-based fisheries management and eco-certification of fisheries.
