Source for Tomorrow

26/01/2021 @ 05:00 - 06:00 UTC+0

The Marine Stewardship Council now sets the global standard for eco-certified fisheries. It is estimated that 15% of the global seafood catch is now certified to MSC-certified standards. Challenges remain for wild seafood certification, and the industry in many ways represents some of the current for eco-certification overall. Two major challenges remain, including how To increase the representation of small scale vessels as a larger percentage of the certified catch and how to establish price premium for the verified catch that is not certified. This panel explores the underlying market dynamics and actors within the seafood supply chain as a case study for exploring the challenges in pushing mainstream adoption of eco-certification.

Panelists are Rupert Howes (MSC), Ryan Bigelow (Monterey Bay Aquarium), Omar Alfi (Pacifico Aquaculture) and Herman Wisse (GSSI).

The webinar recording “Pricing and Access – Challenges in Mass Adoption in the Seafood Market” is available here.
